Summer Vibes

01 July - 31 August 2026

Opera Gallery Dubai is pleased to present 'Summer Vibes', a vibrant group exhibition bringing together a curated selection of modern and contemporary artworks by internationally renowned artists. Spanning multiple generations, the exhibition offers a rich dialogue between post-war masters and leading contemporary voices, highlighting the enduring evolution of visual expression.

Featuring works by artists such as Fernando Botero, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, André Brasilier, Sam Francis, Yayoi Kusama, Shepard Fairey, Julian Opie, KAWS, Gustavo Nazareno, Noel Anderson, Joe Black, Thomas Dillon, Miguel Sainz Ojeda, Xevi Solà, Pieter Obels, and Manolo Valdés, the exhibition reflects a wide spectrum of artistic approaches—from modern figuration to contemporary pop aesthetics and abstract experimentation.

The exhibition unfolds through a dynamic interplay of styles and media. Iconic modern works by Chagall and Picasso introduce poetic and symbolic narratives, while Botero’s distinctive figuration offers a timeless exploration of form. In contrast, Yayoi Kusama’s Original Infinity Nets (2000) and Sam Francis’s gestural abstraction immerse viewers in rhythm, repetition, and colour.

Contemporary practices bring a renewed energy to the presentation. Shepard Fairey’s politically charged visual language and KAWS’ playful yet subversive sculptural presence—highlighted by the monumental Companion (Grey Colorway)—anchor the exhibition in the visual culture of today. Joe Black’s intricate assemblages and Noel Anderson’s textile-based works expand the boundaries of materiality, while Julian Opie’s minimalist portraiture offers a striking reinterpretation of the human figure.

Figuration remains a central thread throughout the exhibition. Gustavo Nazareno’s mythologically infused compositions, Miguel Sainz Ojeda’s symbol-rich canvases, and Xevi Solà’s evocative scenes each propose distinct visual narratives rooted in identity and storytelling. Meanwhile, Thomas Dillon’s expressive surfaces and André Brasilier’s lyrical compositions bring representations with a refined sensitivity to colour and movement.

Sculptural works punctuate the exhibition with compelling spatial presence. From Pieter Obels’ Corten steel forms to Manolo Valdés’ striking glass and steel head, these works challenge material expectations while engaging with balance, scale, and texture.

Through this diverse assembly of artworks, 'Summer Vibes' offers an immersive exploration of modern and contemporary art, where historical legacies intersect with present-day innovation. The exhibition invites viewers to experience unexpected juxtapositions and resonant dialogues, celebrating the plurality of artistic voices that continue to shape today’s global art landscape.
